The MiG-21 was the air superiority fighter of the East and virtually all Warsaw Treaty states used this enormously versatile combat aircraft. In countless versions, the agile aircraft stood up to its Western counterparts for decades and was a feared adversary. More than 10,000 of all variants were built, making the MiG-21 one of the most widely built fighter aircraft after the Second World War. The NVA also had about 500 aircraft in service. The MiG-21 was exported to 43 countries; several countries also produced the type under licence. Revised new edition up to date!
