The "angular" cab of the heavy-duty series has characterised the Unimog face for a good 50 years. Only the basic shape of the cab has remained almost unchanged to this day. The chassis and vehicle technology have undergone several fundamental changes over the past five decades. The heavy-duty Unimogs are made for particularly power-intensive tasks in agriculture and forestry and are also frequently used by the German Armed Forces, the fire service and the THW.
Alexander J. Kraus has been studying the Unimog phenomenon for years. He has now analysed the history of this heavy series in detail with an extensive array of technical data, a keen eye for all kinds of special features and a wealth of illustrations.
