This issue of the "Vessel Model Special" series focuses on two Japanese aircraft carriers: the "Taiho", Japan's first aircraft carrier with an armored flight deck, and the "Shinano", which was converted from a "Yamato" class battleship. Despite their strengthened defences, both aircraft carriers had short lifespans. Many questions related to these aircraft carriers of the Imperial Japanese Navy remained unanswered. This work attempts to answer some of these questions using valuable archival material.
The model section presents various kits for the "Taiho" and "Shinano" from Bellyfire (1:350), Fujimi (1:700), Tamiya (1:700) and Flyhawk (1:700).
