The heavy cruiser Takao of the Imperial Japanese Navy was built as the lead ship of the Takao class and took part in numerous fierce battles during the Pacific War. It fought in important battles such as the Battle of the Philippines and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. After being badly damaged, it was converted into a coastal defence battery in Singapore before being scuttled by the British Navy after the war. In this book, the Takao's superstructure and equipment are faithfully reproduced with detailed drawings and explanations, vividly illustrating her robust silhouette and rich history.
