Minute analysis of the battles against the Red Army in north-eastern Lower Austria, based on the questioning of about 150 contemporary witnesses. Chronologically, the battles in the Marchfeld and in the eastern Weinviertel are examined. Since the area of operations of the German 8th Army coincided with the Weinviertel area, this is also a history of the last battles of the units belonging to it.
