The Battle of the Alps is one of the few battles that ended in a French victory during the 1940 campaign in France. While the armies in the north and east were subjected to the enemy's blitzkrieg tactics, the soldiers in the Alps managed to hold back the Italian army, their former allies, despite being outnumbered.
