The Dodge WC series of military transporters was produced on a large scale by the American industry during the Second World War. The aim of the development of the WC 51-52 series was to create a lightweight, four-wheel drive "utility vehicle" characterised by high reliability in all environments and good transport capacity. The design was extremely successful and, together with the famous ¼-tonne "Jeep" Willys, the Dodge WC ¾-tonne "Beeps" was the most produced vehicle by American factories during the Second World War and contributed significantly to meeting the logistical needs of the American army on the various fronts. Thanks to its good payload of almost 700 kg, which could be further increased by using rear trailers, the Dodge vehicle was produced in numerous versions and with different equipment: Flatbed, open cab, troop, ammunition and weapons transport. Specifically, the WC-56 version was intended for liaison, communication and official transport tasks.
