This book is the only one in French to tell the story of the 3rd Infantry Division of the US Army from its creation to the present day. This large active unit is also known as the Marne Division because of its achievements in 1918. Between the two wars, it remained in the battle order despite the Great Depression of 1929. When the United States entered the war in 1941, the 3rd Division was among the first to be deployed against the Axis powers in North Africa, and it earned fame and honour on all the battlefields: Sicily, then Italy, the landing in Provence, the Vosges-Alsace campaign in the winter of 1944/45 and until the surrender of Germany.
