Description
During the Allied landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944, virtually all messages and reports were transmitted by electronic radio, with only a few exceptions. Never before has a single publication presented the Allies' electronic means of communication in such breadth. Although still far from exhaustive, the two volumes together offer a remarkable overall view of the radios and other communications equipment of the British, Americans and Canadians in World War II.
Anyone interested in the fighting in World War II would do well to inform themselves about the technology and functioning of electronic communications as well. For the area of the Western Allies, this publication provides the remedy. The descriptions of the individual devices presented here are taken entirely from the original technical manuals. No less than 160 radios, including BC 611, BC 1306, Wireless Set No. 18 and No. 19 or Amplifier RF No. 2 and Wavemaster Class D, are presented here together with their associated equipment and information on use and operation.
