The department of Ain, an important, strategic part of the link between northern and southern France, was unwilling to accept the French surrender in June 1940, making this region in particular the nucleus of the French Resistance against the German occupiers. The examples of three towns in this region are used to describe the undertakings of the Résistance against the German occupiers. It shows the part the French resistance fighters played in the liberation of their homeland.
