This book is not intended to repeat the official history of the French Alpine Army. Nor is it a compilation exhaustive of the subject; the idea is to give an impression and a general understanding of these troops in 1939 and 1940, particularly in the key sector of the Rhône and the Saône.
This work describes events along the French Alpine front in May/June 1940, events that are now almost completely forgotten.
