This work was written on the basis of the flight books of "Stuka-Fritz". It shows exemplarily the training and the enemy flights of a Ju 87 pilot. Since the Stukas mostly flew in a group, the mission of the entire I. Gruppe Stukageschwader 3 or, after renaming, Schlachtgeschwader 3 between September 1943 and March 1944 can be reconstructed in minute detail using the individual fate of a Stuka pilot as an example.

Fritz was born in 1921. He joined the Luftwaffe in 1940. After basic training with Fliegerausbildungsregiment 24 in Wischau / Moravia, he attended the NCO course in Stettin and was assigned to Fliegerhorst Penzing.
Fritz received his flying training in 1941/42 at the aircraft pilot school in Danzig, at the Stuka school in Bad Aibling and Stuka school in Kitzingen.
In 1943, Fritz was transferred to the supplementary squadron in Athens-Kalamaki. From July 1943 he is stationed with I Group Stuka Squadron 3 at Megara. Fritz flies enemy flights against targets on Kefalonia, Corfu, Leros and Samos as well as against Royal Navy warships in the Aegean.
In 1944, I. Gruppe Schlachtgeschwader 3 is transferred to the Eastern Front. There Fritz flies enemy missions in the battle for the Narwa bridgehead. On 30 March 1944, Fritz is shot down by Russian flak and dies in his 78th enemy flight.
