On 25 September 1957, Lockheed delivered D-ALUB as the first of a total of six L-1649A "Starliners" to the still young Deutsche Lufthansa AG. It was the only aircraft not to have the "parabola" on its three rudders that was customary at the time. As the time of the first jets was already approaching - the first Boeing 707s had already entered service in 1960 - the "Super Star", as it was called by Lufthansa, was only briefly granted its position as a long-haul flagship. As early as 1960, D-ALUB was converted into a freighter before it was finally sold in 1966.
