The Tornado ECR (Electronic Combat / Reconnaissance) is a variant developed to suppress enemy air defense systems. The ECR Tornados have sensors to detect enemy radar positions and are equipped with AGM-88 HARM air-to-ground missiles to combat them. Italy has converted 16 Tornado fighter-bombers for this task, all of which are operated by the 155th Squadron (155° Gruppo ETS) as part of the 6th Squadron, the "Red Devils".
