Maurice Gamelin (1872-1958) is definitely a figure associated with the crushing defeat of the Allies in May 1940. We must overcome this commonplace and ask ourselves: how could this officer, considered one of the most brilliant of his generation, who succeeded in everything since his early youth and who enjoyed the confidence of the political leadership, lead the Allied armies to disaster? To answer this central question and the subject of this book, which has only been partially answered in the last 80 years, the author goes through the parameters that influenced the Generalissimo's tactical and strategic decisions.
