This book is dedicated to the 25th Parachute Division in Algeria, the spearhead of the French Army's general reserve units in North Africa, in whose fighting it participated from 1956-1961. Under the command of chiefs with illustrious names closely associated with the paratroopers (Gilles, Sauvagnac, Ducournau), the men of the 25th Parachute Division took part in the toughest battles, from the Battle of the Frontier to the major operations of the Challe Plan. The 25th Parachute Division, which disappeared in the turmoil of the events of April 1961, is less media-savvy than its sister division, but nevertheless surrounded by a legendary aura. This hundred-page study, based on the most accurate sources and illustrated with mostly unpublished pictures from the archives of numerous alumni, provides an overview of the organisation, duties, weapons, clothing, insignia and equipment of the various units of the division that served under the blue, red or green beret.
