By order of 18 September 1939, this unit was formed from members of the Ordnungspolizei. During the Western campaign, the division took part in the battles to break through the Maginot Line. In 1941, it marched over 1000 kilometres to the city limits of Leningrad in the East and was finally deployed in Pomerania and west of Berlin in the spring of 1945. The pictures presented here are not PK photographs, but come from the photo albums of the soldiers themselves. They show the war in all its terrible forms and are at the same time a lasting memorial to the bravery and comradeship of the front-line fighters.
