Contemporary Croatian historiography includes a large number of books and articles dealing with various aspects of the Croatian War (war operations, memoirs of those involved, war crimes, etc.), but these rarely provide a comprehensive overview of the most important events of the decisive year 1991. Therefore, the fundamental aim of this book is to provide a summary of the most important events from the perspective of the Yugoslav People's Army (Jugoslavenska narodna armija JNA) on the one hand and the Croatian defence forces (including the basic and special police forces of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Guard and later the Croatian Army and the People's Defence Units) on the other.
