This book traces in pictures the epic of the American 101st Airborne Division in its first combat drop in history. This third volume in a five-part series of over 3000 pages and 4000 photos is devoted to the first hours of D-Day at the "Bloody" Drop Zone - DZ D, Saint-Côme-du-Mont.
Most of the photos are arranged and identified by the 101st Airborne Division's battle sites. This in itself represents information that was previously unavailable. More than 30 years of research and investigation were required to identify them. This book is a combination of three collections of contemporary photographs and is undoubtedly an impressive collection of images.
