Around 100 AD Our series shows fighting Germanic tribes in the use of their traditional weapons. A slingshot was a weapon of not to be underestimated penetrating power and accuracy, which could easily kill a man. With our series, the usual fighting style of the Teutons can be well depicted. They did not fight in a disciplined, closed battle order like the Romans, but rushed at the enemy in wild, disorderly groups with great courage or fought them from ambush with long-range weapons. Thus, in the sparsely populated country, even small detachments could successfully fight against superior forces. The forested mountainous landscape favoured these Germanic tactics, while the Romans were rarely able to exploit their superiority in open field battles with classical order. However, the Germanic tribes also learned elements of Roman tactics, especially through service with the auxiliary troops of the Roman army. Arminius, who had even been a Roman officer, trained parts of the tribal array. After his warriors had repeatedly attacked and worn down the legions on the march in their usual fighting style, he had them proceed in united order in the final phase of the battle in the Teutoburg Forest (9th AD). Thus the despised "barbarians" inflicted a crushing defeat on the Romans. With slingshots.
