um 1775. Daniel Chodowiecki, the famous draughtsman and engraver, had invited his and his son's family on a summer Sunday for an outing. The village of Französisch-Buchholz (today's spelling) at the gates of Berlin with its stalls on the Anger was a popular destination at the time. Very bad weather and the absence of the ordered excursion vehicle put a spanner in the works. Disgruntled, they stayed at home. An amusing mood only arose when Chodowiecki had produced a funny caricature of the intended trip at his work table. We have converted this drawing into pewter on the theme of Old Berlin.
