The Picnic & Bath in the river (two series)

Two scenes from the Rococo period:
1. The Picnic 1765

Carefree, cheerful and fun-loving, we see Rococo ladies and gentlemen having a picnic in the great outdoors or in a beautiful park. Picnicking was a very popular amusement, during which one also played music, read, declaimed poems, entertained the ladies with all sorts of pastimes and, of course, initiated love affairs.



2. The river bath in 1740

This gallant little series was created after a contemporary etching. A young cavalier, hidden behind bushes, overhears two young ladies having fun in the river.
