The Old Fritz (Frederick the Great) is handed the warming cloak by his chamber hussar Strützki. The Italian wind chimes Alkmene, Biche and Pax are, as always, near the king.

It had become lonely around Frederick the Great in the last years of his life. Here the old king sits on the terrace of Sanssouci. His reader Dantal, valet Schöning and chamber hausar Strützki are looking after the king who is sitting in his armchair in the warming rays of the sun.

From April 1732 the crown prince lived in Neuruppin as regimental commander and in 1735 oversaw the construction of the new Rheinsberg Palace and Park. He personally supervised the work of the gardeners in the French-style gardens.
