Sites of hunting grounds in France, the Caucasus and Wallertheim in the Rhineland, as well as in the hunting station Buhlen prove that "Neanderthals were specialized hunters who repeatedly ambushed and killed bisons or mammoths in their tracks in winter pastures. The camps were always built near the hunting grounds.
During their lifetime, Neanderthals deliberately sought out larger deposits of flint and quartzite, and in some places they were sedentary for over ten thousand years.
