The Lenape also called the Lenni Lenape and the Delaware, are an indigenous people of the Northeastern Woodlands, who live in Canada and the United States. They are also called Delaware Indians and their historical territory included present-day New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania along the Delaware River watershed, New York City, western Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.
Lenni Lenape, more rarely in German Delawaren (short Lenape or Delaware), are linguistically and culturally closely related Indians who inhabited the river valleys and adjacent areas along the Delaware River and the middle and lower Hudson River to the Atlantic coast in what is now the northeastern United States in the early 17th century. Culturally, they were among the tribes of the northeastern Woodland. - Wikipedia -
