450 BC. In the sports facilities of the sanctuaries of Olympia and Delphi, young Greeks practised the various ancient sports (discus and javelin throwing, wrestling, running, pugilism) and held their competitions.
Our series shows the fighters after sport in a bath temple. A bronze scraper was used to remove the layer of dust and oil that had been rubbed on their bodies. After the refreshing and hardening shower bath with cold water and drying in the air and sun, fresh oil was massaged into the skin. Our series is accompanied by a drawing of a reconstructed ancient bathing temple.
