During the transition from the Restoration to the Biedermeier period, we experience a sport that was very strange by the standards of the time, but quite widespread in Germany: cycling, or more correctly, the propelling of a two-wheeled wooden wheel. Draisine riders sat on the saddle and moved forward by running. This sport was already so popular that, in addition to "official bicycle races," races were also held in small circles. Our series shows such a small "private race". Children run alongside, a frightened donkey bucks in front of his milk cart, a rider greets a lady, citizens stand and marvel.
