About 1900, 7.5 cm. In 1883, the invention of the ball grinding machine made ball bearings affordable for everyday equipment. These two prerequisites drove the development of roller skates into a piece of play and sports equipment usable by urban youths on the street. Outside of competitive sports, its standard features until the 1950s included iron rollers and clamps with leather straps clamped to the soles of the shoes. The emergence of asphalting the streets made it easier to practice the recreational sport. Our couple visibly enjoys the freedom of roller skating! Berlin original.
