The Möhne and Eder dams were among the six dams in the Ruhr region that were extremely important for supplying energy to the region's industry. On 16/17 May 1943, the British Air Force destroyed the dams and with them a not inconsiderable part of the infrastructure. Over 400 b/w photos document the destruction and the consequences of this catastrophe, which was unprecedented for Germany in this dimension.
