A very comprehensive and extensively illustrated history on the half-tracks of the Israeli army and border police. On display are countless variants of the M2, M2A1, M3, M3A1, M5, M5A1 and M9A1 types, including a large number of special versions for use as minesweepers, flamethrowers, anti-tank vehicles or radio cars . The volume shows the vehicles in a wide variety of situations from training to wartime use to museum specimens. This first of two volumes concentrates on the half-track vehicles of the period between 1948 and 1959, with the Israeli War of Independence of 1948 as the main focus. In addition, there is also a section dealing with the sandwich trucks and wheeled armoured vehicles used at the time.
