The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin stands on Pariser Platz in Dorotheenstadt in the Mitte district. It was built between 1788 and 1791 by Carl Gotthard Langhans on the orders of the Prussian King Frederick William II and is a well-known landmark and national symbol with which many important events in the history of Berlin, Germany, Europe and the world of the 20th century are associated.
