EugÅne-Rose de Beauharnais (German Eugene Duke of Leuchtenberg and Fürst of Eichstätt) (* 3 September 1781 in Paris; Äá21.áFebruaryá1824 in München) was stepson of Napoleon I and was adopted by him später. He had been Viceroy of Italy since 1805 and married Auguste of Bavaria. He distinguished himself as a commander in 1809 and became Thronprätendent of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt in 1810. He took part in the Russian campaign of 1812 and temporarily commanded the French troops in Germany in 1813. He returned to Italy and surrendered in 1814. He received the title of Duke of Leuchtenberg and Prince of Eichstätt from his father-in-law and from then on lived in the Kingdom of Bavaria.
