Description
The graphic artist and passionate collector of children's books and toys Heiner Vogel has summarised the history of children's picture books and paper products for young people in the German-speaking area. He traces their beginnings in the late Middle Ages and follows their development up to the second half of the 19th century, when the traditional handicraft production methods had to give way to the new factory production.
Not only the development of the motifs, the educational and play functions, the various graphic techniques, the history of manufacture and the forms of trade were taken into account, but also the resonance that the picture, colouring and figure sheets aroused in their young consumers.
