The role of British author Ian Fleming (best known as the creator of James Bond) during the Second World War and his involvement in a secret mission to prevent Spain from entering the war on the side of the Axis powers. The plan was to use acts of sabotage, espionage and diplomacy to weaken pro-German elements in Spain and secure British interests. A central aim was to protect Gibraltar, which was under British control, from a possible Spanish-German attack. The book sheds light on a little-known episode in Ian Fleming's life and shows how his work in the secret service helped to keep Spain neutral during the Second World War. It offers insights into the creation of Operation Golden Eye and illustrates how diplomatic and clandestine operations influenced the conduct of the war.
