Description
The campaign against France from 1806 to 1807. The author draws a picture of a highly interesting epoch in the development of Europe. The role of the Prussian state, its politics, its people and its armed forces is placed in this picture of Europe at the end of the 18th century. The campaign against France in 1806-1807 plays the main role in the publication.
It was important to the author to present a factual and comprehensible picture of the Royal Prussian Army of 1806. With reference to the actions of the Prussian troops in 1806 and 1807, a historical gap is hereby closed. The publication turns to the hitherto less known facts of the campaign, the retreat of the Prussian troops in autumn 1806, the surrenders of the Prussian troops and fortresses, beginning in November 1806, as well as the actions of the Prussian troops in the continuation of the campaign in East Prussia from spring 1807. Particular attention is paid to the examination of the intentions of the warring sides after the entry of Russia into the war in 1807. In particular, the role of the Great Russian Empire as the originator and trigger of the War of Liberation, which has remained unchallenged to this day, is critically examined. A concluding evaluation deals in due brevity with the restoration of the Prussian troops from 1808 onwards on the basis of new legal military foundations and the efforts to create the same. A separate publication on the Royal Prussian Army in the years 1805 to 1815 is in preparation.
