With 1,000 unpublished photos, this is the first book about the 4,500 Norwegian volunteers in the Waffen-SS. The book was written by Geir Brenden and Tommy Natedal, who have been researching Norwegian volunteers since the 1980s. It is based on the authors' extensive photo archive and covers the various fronts where most Norwegian volunteers fought, including the Caucasus, Leningrad and Karelia. The book also provides detailed coverage of the units in which the Norwegian volunteers fought: 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking, SS Volunteer Legion Norway and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Police Companies, SS Ski Company Norway, 23rd SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment Norge, SS Police Ski Hunter Battalion 506 (mot.).
