A technical description of the German 5 cm Granatwerfer 36, including the weapon, accessories and ammunition. The German 5 cm Granatwerfer 36 was the smallest steep-fire weapon of the German army during the Second World War. Introduced as a support weapon for the infantry, it proved to be too complicated and insufficiently effective over time. This led to production being discontinued in 1943, although the launcher remained in service until the end of the war. A total of approx. 30,000 units were produced.
The 5 cm Granatwerfer 36 had an extensive range of accessories, its transport container and various types of ammunition and corresponding packaging. The material also underwent a number of changes during its service life. The aim of this book is to present the weapon in its entirety. In detailed descriptions, supplemented by numerous illustrations, a comprehensive technical-historical picture of this launcher is presented for the first time. A large number of previously unpublished photographs, reproductions from service regulations and illustrations of original objects provide the reader with an unrivalled insight into a historical chapter of weapon technology.
