The story of the Italian armoured units of the Italian Social Republic (RSI) in the period from 1943 to 1945 is told for the first time in a single volume with a wealth of detail and unusually rich illustration. Years of research in the Italian and German archives and dozens of interviews with veterans of these units have made it possible to reconstruct in detail the events relating to the various tank and armoured units of the RSI.
For the first time, the general development of the ENR truck is described, as well as the reasons that led to the considerable failure of the attempts to build up effective armoured units to be deployed alongside the infantry divisions trained in Germany. For the first time, the fate of the armoured units of the Southern Kingdom is also presented in detail. The visual material consists partly of photographs that are already known, but many of them are reproduced in a flawless manner for the first time and correctly identified in the correct historical context. The organisational structures of the most important units have been reconstructed in detail for the first time and various unpublished documents are also presented
