Description
The history of the Panzerwaffe begins in 1916, when the Germans recognised the potential impact of tanks on the art of war. Lacking tanks due to the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles, they thoroughly studied the tactical lessons of the previous conflict to develop a revolutionary operational doctrine and an armoured weapon capable of implementing it. This book analyses the development of German thinking for mechanised warfare and explains the methods used. A useful work to understand the successes of the German armoured forces in the first campaigns of the Second World War. Illustrated with many photos and tactical drawings, the book takes you into the offices of the military planners, the mechanical guts of the tanks and into the heart of the war game.
