At the beginning of World War II in September 1939, German military operations mostly involved vehicles whose armour and weaponry were far inferior to many of the Allied tanks. It was not until the Panzerkampfwagen III that a weapon proved to be the equal of the Allied battle tanks. Especially in its late G version, the Panzer III became the most important German tank in the years leading up to 1942 and was used everywhere by the Wehrmacht. In this book, Walter Spielberger documents the development of this battle tank in detail.
