Although motorbike construction experienced its first boom at the beginning of the 20th century, the motorbike only slowly began to establish itself in the armed forces during the First World War. During the Weimar Republic, the Reichswehr then increasingly put Kradschützen units on heavy motorbikes into service. It was not until 1938 that BMW and Zündapp began to develop so-called super-heavy motorbikes with off-road reduction, reverse gear and sidecar drive. After the war, it was mainly two-strokes that were used. In this volume, Frank Rönicke documents the development of German military motorbikes since 1905.
