This booklet describes the last major British logistics and command post exercise, "Rhino Charge 2004," which was the last major maneuver conducted by British Forces Germany. The exercise area encompassed the Lower Saxon districts of Schaumburg, Hameln-Pyrmont, Minden-Lübbecke, Rinteln, the Hanover region, and Hildesheim. Approximately 3,000 soldiers participated, including units from the 1st (UK) Armoured Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment, the 20th and 7th Armoured Brigade Headquarters and Signal Squadrons, and the Brigade Headquarters of the Danish Reaction Brigade (DRB). Other participating units included elements of the 102nd Logistic Brigade, the 3rd Regiment Army Air Corps, the Joint Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Regiment (JNBCR), as well as units from the Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, and the Royal Logistic Corps. The exercise scenario depicted a conflict in which the fictional country of Amstel occupied the province of Westerburg, prompting the intervention of NATO forces led by the 1st (UK) Armoured Division. The objective of the exercise was to train command, planning, and logistics procedures for the conventional deployment of British and allied troops.
