Description
During the Second World War, German submarines often landed on threatening shores for operational reasons. For example, landings took place for espionage reasons on the coasts of countries such as Ireland, Spain and the USA, but also on the North African coast to support Rommel's Afrika Korps. Mallmann-Showell documents many of these difficult and special submarine operations.
In doing so, he details submarine bases and bunkering facilities he visited in Germany, France and Norway, showing their strategic importance and explaining how and why these facilities were built.
