Volume 5 of the series of novels about the fictional British naval officer "Wild Bull" Turner". 1779: Turner is promoted to commander and sent to Savannah to spy out the most favourable place to land troops. William Turner finds his nemesis Dunbar and succeeds in hunting him down. By chance, Turner comes across the pirate Capitana, who surrenders herself to the British in order to save her henchmen. She knows there must be no living witnesses, otherwise such a ghost from the past could suddenly appear at some point and destroy her future.

William "Wild Bull" Turner comes from humble beginnings. His father is a fisherman and smuggler on the English Channel coast. His mother is the daughter of the local vicar and companion to the laird's wife. He has neither wealth nor connections to further his career as a naval officer to the English king. The fact that he has learned the seaman's profession from scratch does not only win him friends in the ranks of his noble and/or wealthy officer comrades, moreover he cannot always restrain his cheeky mouth.
