In 1918 Giovanni Messe founded the 10th Assault Regiment, creating the first special unit in the Italian army. The legacy of a few brave men has survived to the present day, first in the "Reparto Sabotatori" and then in the 9th Parachute Assault Regiment. This book tells their story, from the beginnings to the present day, through the vicissitudes of the unit and the testimonies of extraordinary men.

Thanks to the collaboration of the 9th Parachute Assault Regiment and the A.N.I.E. (Associazione Nazionale Incursori Esercito), this book draws on a rich and unpublished iconographic apparatus.
