The most famous and consequential battle in the history of the German Armed Forces took place on Good Friday, 2 April 2010, near Kunduz. German soldiers were ambushed and fought for more than eight hours against a superior number of Taliban fighters. Three soldiers were killed, five were wounded, and six Afghan soldiers were killed by German friendly fire. Two days later, Defence Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg used the words war in Afghanistan for the first time. In countless interviews, using images, videos and documents, Wolf Gregis has reconstructed the history of the Bundeswehr's most significant battle in detail for the first time and recounts it from the different perspectives of those involved.
