This is the second volume of a study on the American military presence in France. The first part (out of print) deals with the origins of the Western alliance forged after the Second World War. After describing France's role and position, it presents in detail all NATO facilities located on its territory. A description of the American line of communication and its structure in France then clarifies the administrative affiliation (to NATO or not) of the various US garrisons located in an arc from Charentes to Lorraine. An additional chapter is devoted to the use of the Maginot Line facilities by the Atlantic forces. At the end of this volume, the authors have decided to discuss the organisation of American and Canadian transport aviation in France, which, as the driving force behind the coalition's air forces, ensured the credibility of the combat units.
