Descriptionof Scale Model Handbook. How to Guides. Volume 4: Painting & Weathering WWII Panzer IV Tank
-
Manufacturer
This is the fourth book in the How to Guides series, which aims to provide detailed information on painting and general modelling techniques for all modellers. The books contain high quality photographs and detailed text, allowing readers to easily follow the progress of assembly and painting methods and adopt new modelling techniques and different approaches. This edition has 70 pages instead of the usual 68, with 160 photos and 93 colour chips. The authors take a detailed look at the painting and weathering of a 1/35th scale Russian World War II Panzer IV, and renowned artist Radek Pituch provides a detailed account of the colour modulation technique and weathering sequence with 60 large-format step-by-step pictures, allowing the reader to see all the painting and weathering details and all the colours and materials used. A brief historical outline and some details about the Dragon kit are also included. Radek's aim was to reveal all his secrets for the painting (colour modulation) and weathering process and so the updating and upgrading of the tank has been kept to a minimum as the Dragon kit is a very good 1/35th scale model. The next article is for a German Panzer IV Ausf. E Tauchpanzer in Panzergrau camouflage by Panagiotis Giatzoglou, which runs to seven pages and includes 11 large format photos so the reader can see all the minute details. The author has written a very detailed text so that the reader can easily follow his painting and weathering methods, even if the usual step-by-step photos are missing... The next seven pages are devoted to the relevant acrylic paint sets for WWII Russian and German tanks - contrast and desaturation sets - rain and dust liquid pigments for rain stains, dust, soil and general weathering, and liquid pigments for emphasising details. The final 12 pages present some decals and accessories that can be used to create a realistic and unique 1/35th scale Panzer IV Ausf. E tank.
