Silicone rubber is an extremely flexible material suitable for many applications. The following book deals primarily with the possible applications in the hobby field, the many different possibilities of moulding are described in detail and partly illustrated. To make it clear to the practical hobbyist what material he is actually dealing with, the practical section is preceded by a knowledge section. This consists of an overview of the different areas of application for which the material is used as well as the different types of silicone rubber that are available on the market today. Anyone who enjoys experimenting will discover almost inexhaustible possibilities for creativity in the material silicone rubber
there are almost no limits to the ideas:
- on the one hand, because silicone rubber is very flexible, and on the other hand, because the material is available in so many
different variants. By adding so-called additives, everyone can produce the optimal silicone rubber for their own use. It is not easy to find one's way through the jungle of terms used by the individual suppliers
because new silicone compounds are constantly being developed - by the corporations as well as by the companies that sell silicone rubber. Since the definitions of terms are not clear anyway, many suppliers have decided to create their own terms - sometimes more, sometimes less successful. With this book, we try to clear up some of the confusion and to
offer help in deciding on the all-important question: Which silicone for which application? Certainly, everyone who deals with this material will have to accept one or the other setback, but "trial and error" - this is especially true in the case of silicone rubber and with increasing experience, the successes also become greater and greater. Following the theoretical part of the book, numerous instructions, some of them illustrated, describe the best and most successful way to mould the respective originals. All instructions are to be understood as suggestions. Each original that is moulded with silicone rubber has its own special features and must be treated accordingly.
