How "good" such an impression is depends primarily on the material used. From school we are mostly familiar with plaster bandages or plaster as a material for making relief moulds. These can be used to create rough shapes that can then be moulded or cast with clay, plaster or other suitable materials. However, if particularly precise and lifelike moulds are important to you, you will have to resort to other materials. Alginate, which is made from brown algae, is particularly suitable for this purpose. As a natural, pollutant-free material, alginate is excellently suited for reproducing even the finest details in a lifelike manner.
The book deals primarily with the use of alginate as a detailed impression material, but at the same time it also gives an overview of the other uses. You will probably be amazed at how and where the inconspicuous white powder can be used everywhere. Contents: 1. introduction; 2. alginate - what is it anyway?; 3. areas of application of alginate; 4. alginate as an impression material; 5. from the impression to the finished sculpture; 6. taking impressions step by step.
